This article is the free-path job. You want a model you can talk to without paying this site, without a paywall on the GitHub files, and without buying a key from us. The conversation walk sits on AI chat. The bot session sits on Chatbot. People who mixed this up with another company's login sit on ChatGPT no login. The short pointer sits home.

This is OpenCode. MIT. The OpenCode project publishes it. We did not make it. Official files live on GitHub Releases. The repo is sst/opencode (anomalyco/opencode). Official site is opencode.ai. This site does not host a model or a chat app. Skip Softonic, CNET, and unofficial wrappers.

The button on this page goes to Install on the home page. Trust notes sit on Free chatgpt download safe.

Install so you can use free AI

Copy this command, then paste it into PowerShell if you use Scoop:

scoop install opencode
Copy

Official docs also list Chocolatey package opencode:

choco install opencode
Copy

Official docs also list a Node global package named opencode-ai:

npm install -g opencode-ai
Copy

On macOS or Linux, official docs list Homebrew:

brew install anomalyco/tap/opencode
Copy

On WSL, macOS, or Linux you can use the official install script at https://opencode.ai/install:

curl -fsSL https://opencode.ai/install | bash
Copy

Usual Windows zip is opencode-windows-x64.zip. An arm64 zip sits on the same tag. Open the list on GitHub Releases. Live tag observed: V1.18.25, 28 August 2026. File notes sit on Free chatgpt releases. LICENSE sits on Free chatgpt GitHub.

How to use free AI tool OpenCode

  1. Install OpenCode with scoop install opencode, or take opencode-windows-x64.zip from GitHub Releases.
  2. Open Groq console or Google AI Studio and create a free API key, or skip the key and install Ollama.
  3. Run OpenCode. Use /connect and paste the key, or configure the local Ollama provider at http://localhost:11434/v1.
  4. Use /models and pick a model on that free path.
  5. Send one prompt. Confirm a reply without paying this site. This site does not issue keys.

That list is the free AI path. You are using MIT files plus a free key or a local model. You are not buying a key from this page. After the five steps, read one reply. Checking is part of the job.

What free AI means here

Free AI on this page means two things that stay honest. The program is MIT on GitHub. There is no paywall on those release assets. Then you bring a free Groq key, a free Google AI Studio key, or a model already on this machine through Ollama. This site does not sell a key and does not host a model.

People type free AI when they do not want to pay a random download blog, and they do not want a site that pretends the model lives here. The honest shape is Scoop or a zip from GitHub, then a key from a provider that actually offers one, or Ollama.

Groq and Google set their own limits. Those limits can change. We will not invent a quota we did not observe. If a free key stops working, that is their console, not this page.

Free Groq key

Open the Groq console, create an account, click Create API Key, and copy the key. Official OpenCode docs list Groq under Providers. Run OpenCode, run /connect, search for Groq, paste the key, hit enter. Keys sit in ~/.local/share/opencode/auth.json.

This site does not issue Groq keys. We do not proxy Groq. If the console asks for an account, that is Groq, not us. We will not write a fake key.

Free Google AI Studio key

Google AI Studio is another free key path. Create a key there. In OpenCode, run /connect and search for the Google provider they list. Paste the key. Then run /models and pick one that provider actually shows.

This site does not issue Google keys. Official docs live on opencode.ai. If Google asks for an account, that is Google, not a login we invented. We will not clone their console.

Ollama with no cloud key

Install Ollama, pull a model, then point OpenCode at http://localhost:11434/v1. Official docs show a local Ollama provider. No Groq or Google key in that path. The model stays on your machine. This site does not host Ollama.

Start Ollama before you start OpenCode. If the local server is down, the free local path is closed until you start it. A first local test can be a tiny model you already pulled. Do not start by downloading a huge model on a metered link unless you meant to.

MIT files, no paywall on the program

OpenCode is MIT. Files live on GitHub Releases. There is no paywall on the scoop package or the zip we point at. A free AI download from this project is that program. No paid unlock. No extra installer from a download blog. Releases notes on this site sit on Free chatgpt releases.

Free AI is not a promise that a cloud vendor stays free forever. It is a promise that this page does not sell the binary. Trust notes sit on Free chatgpt download safe.

What free does not mean

Free does not mean this site hosts a model. Free does not mean a wrapper from Softonic. Free does not mean we pay your Groq bill if they change a plan. Free does not mean you skip /connect.

The conversation walk sits on AI chat. The bot session sits on Chatbot. Stay here for the free path.

Skipping Softonic

Skip Softonic. Skip CNET. Skip unofficial wrappers. A search for free AI is noisy. Fetch OpenCode from Scoop, from GitHub Releases, or from the official install page. Match opencode-windows-x64.zip or the arm64 zip on V1.18.25. Files stay on GitHub.

Checking the free path

The job is finished when you got a reply without paying this site. If the key is rejected, open the provider console and create a new one. If Ollama refuses, check that it is running on port 11434. Do not buy a key from a search ad.

School PCs and uninstall

A lab image may block unknown programs. Then this free AI job is closed for that hour. Do not fetch a wrapper. Use a PC you control. If you installed with Scoop, Scoop can remove the package. If you took the zip, delete that folder.

What this article will not do

It will not host the installer. It will not host a model. It will not be a star rating. It will not sell a key. The install pointer is Install on the home page.

It will not replace the AI chat walk. That sits on AI chat. It will not replace the bot-session walk. That sits on Chatbot. It will not invent a login bypass. That mix-up sits on ChatGPT no login.

How do I use free AI on this machine?

Paste scoop install opencode, or take opencode-windows-x64.zip. Get a Groq or Google AI Studio key, or run Ollama. Connect. Pick a model. Send one prompt. The install pointer is Install on the home page.

Is this free AI actually free?

The program is MIT. GitHub Releases has no paywall on those files. Groq and Google AI Studio are free-key paths they publish. Ollama is local. This site does not host the installer and does not sell a key. Providers set their own limits.

Did you make this free AI tool?

No. The OpenCode project publishes OpenCode under MIT. Official files live on GitHub Releases. This site only points at that page. We do not host the installer.
